Matabì is a project for innovative didactics designed to improve maths learning and reduce gender gaps, starting from primary school, through play and the development of visual-spatial skills.
The Matabì path includes training sessions for teachers and classroom workshops with dedicated educators. During the activities, game and didactics combine thanks to a personal kit with 14 LEGO® DUPLO® bricks. Boys and girls together with their teachers learn about different topics in maths by playing, developing spatial skills through specific didactic methods.
The experimental phase of the project began in September 2022 and the project is now at its second edition: engaging approximately 4,000 3rd- and 4th-grade students and their teachers.
The project is promoted by Exor and carried out by Fondazione Agnelli, with the scientific contribution of Politecnico di Torino’s Department of Mathematical Sciences and support from The LEGO Foundation.
Matabì was inspired by the experience developed with Care for Education and by the Six Bricks method. The project’s impact is assessed in collaboration with CRENoS – Università di Cagliari.
